On Saturday, the metropolitan hall of “Universiada” became a special place.
Thanks to the volleyball scouts from the teams of Vlado Nikolov, Sliven and the Sofia University, their coaches and parents. Thanks to the great Sliven’s pedagogue and coach – Zhivko Zhelyazkov. Thanks to Lead manager of “Razvitie” – Alexander Aleksandrov, who personally agreed to be a patron of the charity tournament in support of Stilian, a 12-year-old basketball star from Sliven, diagnosed this summer with a rare but particularly aggressive oncological condition.
Stiliyan has already begun treatment at a clinic in Istanbul, whose specialists are giving high chances of full recovery. However, there are many procedures, each of which costs 7 thousand dollars.
The Sliven public workers reacted immediately, starting the fundraising campaign, and Zhivko Zhelyazkov decided to organize a charity volleyball tournament. Alas, because of the miserable state of the hall in Sliven, the city cannot host the tournament, so the decision is for it to be held in Sofia, especially after Vlado Nikolov is committed to the task of securing a hall, and Aleksandar Alexandrov immediately accepted the invitation to patronize the tournament. The cause is joined by Titi Papazov, who, asked by Alexandrov, opens for free the doors of the “Universiada” Hall. In addition, Titi begins attempts, through his contacts in Turkey, to reduce the cost of Stilian's treatment.
The true heroes, however, are children. The young volleyball players from Vlado Nikolov's School, Sliven and Sofia University received their first lesson of nobility, and maybe the teachers were ... they themselves. Especially after the whole team of last year's Champions in the Scout League – CSKA arrived in “Universiada”. Although they did not participate in the tournament because of planned control match with another metropolitan team, the boys got in front of the special box and donated their levs to heal Stilian. Vlado Nikolov's graduates had prepared a huge card with their signatures - for courage and as a sign of sympathy with their peer.

Beside them were Jivko Zhelyazkov's volleyball players who traveled kilometers from Sliven to give their moral and friendly support for their fellow town mate, who is struggling for his life.
All this made the tournament’s patron Alexandrov turn to the boys from the four teams - "you are the real heroes; your game is the one that contributes and makes this help possible". It was very difficult to persuade him to declare the amount of his personal donation - 5 thousand leva for Stilian's future, as well as his sincere hope and belief.
The 12-year-old boy goes to Istanbul for the second treatment program. The finale is not near, but 40 of his peers gave everything from themselves to give him courage. And to show that sport and nobility are indivisible.
