By the 31-st of December 2017, when the deadline was reached, 45 manuscripts were received. They will compete for the grand prize of the competition, as well as the special prize due to the fact that this is its anniversary edition.
We remind you that in the end of December the creator of the competition, Alexander Alexandrov have considerably increased the size of the prizes. The big 7,000 leva was increased to 12,000 leva, and the special of the previously announced, 3,000 leva was raised to 7,000 leva. Furthermore, the organizers undertook the task to issue 10 of the received manuscripts and not as before - only the winner and some of the nominees.
The reasons for this decision are the two anniversaries - the competition’s and the one of corporation “Razvitie”, whichin 2018-th marks 25 years since its inception. Beyond that, however, is the main aim of the competition is again to support and motivate Bulgarian authors and books, to find new names in the Bulgarian literature and give chance to debutants in the novel genre.
The second stage, in which the 45 manuscripts are taken over by the three-member jury - Prof. Ivaylo Znepolski, Assoc. Prof. Boyko Penchev and Georgi Gospodinov, will be carried out soon enough. Their duty is to announce on April 25, the five nominees, and in the first days of May, at an official ceremony in Sofia – the winners of the Grand Prize and the special prizes.
By the recommendation of the jury will be determined which other eight manuscripts will be printed by the organizers of the contest "Razvitie".
We thank all those who have sent their texts and we sincerely believe that among them, the competition will find for a 10-th time a truly great author.
