After „Islands of Normality” - a film about the national volleyball scout league and the social function of the sport on the children, now director Anton Radoslavov and the team of the operator Bojidar Simeonov start to film a story about the creation of two statuettes.
They will be unique, designed for the winners of the Grand Prize and the Special Prizes on the jubilee 10–th literature competition for unpublished Bulgarian novel “Razvitie”. Their creator will again be the artist Boryana Zafirova, who made the 8 glass sculptures presented to the winners of the previous editions of the competition.
The shootings will follow the whole process of the creation of the statuettes - from the conceptual design on paper, through the molding and melting of the glass to the cold processing and “sculpting” of the plastics. Boryana will also act as a “guide” to lead the teamand explain the different steps of the process during this walk.
The first shots, however, "rewind the tape", by showing the last statuette of the eight, sculptured by Boryana 14 years ago. It was awarded in 2016 to the winner of the 9-th Edition of the “Razvitie” literature Contest, Ina Valchanova, for her novel “Crash Island”.
Ina is a whiter and an artist. In her home the filmmakers spoke of the creation, interweaving writing and glass making. Processes that have many common crossing points, even though are different. This will be one of the film's main storylines - the text, the creative act of building a literary work, shown through the light and the shapes of the glass. Boryana was looking for this symbolism, and the movie will show its realization.
In addition to Boryana's glass writing feather, Inna Valchanova showed us another very valuable sculpture - the 2017 European Literature Prize, which her novel "Crash Island" won after its release from the “Razvitie” literature contest. Extremely different in their form, in this case they are, of course, united by one thing – the literature.
The first viewers of the film will probably be the guests at the award ceremony of the winners of the 20th Anniversary Literature Competition "Razvitie" in early May. They will have the pleasure of seeing the two states of the statuettes - as a generated idea with all its conditionality, volatility and inconsistency, as well as the ready-made sculptures waiting to fall into the hands of the winning novels’ authors.
