Professor Todor Vulchev, head of Bulgarian National Bank from 1991-st to 1996-th, will open a conference about “The Bulgarian participation in the Euro zone – path towards a moving target”.

The event, organized by the Economics and International Relations Institute (EIRI) and Corporation “Razvitie”, will be held in December or early January in Sofia and is part of the special program of events, marking the 25-th anniversary of Razvitie Corporation.

As a doyen of the economic scientists in Bulgaria, professor Vulchev accepted the invitation to share some introductory words, with which the forum will be opened. The 95-year-old economist was a guest of “Razvitie” and spoke with the CEO Alexander Alexandrov and the former Deputy Prime Minister in two governments, Ivailo Kalfin. As a Chief Economic Advisor of “Razvitie” and an active participant in the board of directors of EIRI, Kalfin works on the organization of the conference.

Between the participants, there will be members of the government, members of Parliament, financial experts, representatives of academia, trade unions and business representatives.

Professor Vulchev agreed that the conference is touching on a very important matter in the context of the determination, expressed by the government of Bulgaria to participate in the Eurozone, starting with an entry into the Exchange Rate Mechanism II. According to the ex-governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, it is very important to carefully analyze the one year term, given to our country for preparation to access the ERM II.

The organizers of the event are prepared to publish the reports, which will be presented by the participants.
