We initiate reduction of administrative burdens for the business, mentioned the deputy prime minister on a forum, supported by “Razvitie”

25.02.2017

Corporation “Razvitie” was the main sponsor of “Business Roadmap 2017”, organized by “Economist” Magazine, part of the “S Media Group” and the “Bulgarian Industrial Association”.

The business forum was opened by the Prime Minister – Prof. Ognian Gerdjikov, who in his brief statement found that every year in the revenue side of the budget, more and more tax revenues are foreseen and in the last three years this increase is 40%, which in his words – “Looks like hidden taxes”.

The prime minister also told the audience of business representatives and key political parties, that he has formed a working group that has to come up with proposals to reduce administrative burdens and give an example of how such relief should be made in all areas.

On the sidelines of the forum, the CEO of “Razvitie” – Alexander Alexandrov highlighted the benefits of such events, as they provide a forum for business meetings with politicians and an opportunity to clarify the important issues and how individual political formations could work to resolve them.

On one hand, it is important for the business to know what is going to happen and what policies will be made and on the other – the politicians should hear the opinions of the business on which to make their decisions.

According to Alexandrov, the business should in general be optimistic, and the business of Corporation “Razvitie”, which is on the business stage, is moderately optimistic at this stage, due to the fact that the business cycle went up after high growth in 2016, hoping to continue and over the next two years.

The CEO of “Razvitie” voiced a hope that the upcoming elections will lead to a parliament that will deliver a stable government, which is a guarantee for continued growth support.

Among the main panelists was the member of the “Monti”Group and Chief Economic Adviser of the “Razvitie”Corporation – Ivaylo Kalfin. (The group led by former Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti was set up as a result of negotiations on the 2014-2020 budget framework to discuss and propose options for better financing of the EU budget, making it more autonomous and less dependent on contributions from national budgets.)

Mr. Kalfin presented some of the highlights of the final report of the “Monti” Group in January.

Among them is the emerging change in the way of financing, that will going to shift into gear after 2020. It is now talked about taking into account the budget results; as well as the increasing need of our projects to compete with ones in the common European funds where, according to Kalfin, we are lagging behind.

He also pointed out that EU funding will increasingly focus on areas of pan-European character rather than on ones of national interest.

The budget will be more flexible and most likely there will be no national packages as there are at the present moment. In this way, we will not be able to rely on an amount that, if we keep the rules, we can spend.

The former Deputy Prime Minister and Social Minister stressed that the pyramid is being reversed to finance the European budget. The EU is designed to finance not as an international organization - from contributions from member states, but to generate its own financial resources.

One of the important topics of the forum - "Education, Human Resources and Labor Market", Ivaylo Kalfin pointed out that good education is not enough to keep the quality personnel in our country. Our country must be able to compete for good professionals with the countries, who take 35-40 thousand well-educated Bulgarians annually. Therefore, it is necessary to create conditions in the Bulgarian economy for these people to stay and work in our country. This means higher labor productivity, more added value in manufacturing, Kalfinpointed also out.
